The jackfruit is the world's largest tree-borne fruit, weighing up to 36 kg and measuring 22–90 cm long and 13–50 cm in diameter. It has a thick, rubbery rind with hexagonal apices and a yellowish-brown color. The inside is made up of a thick, whitish to yellowish wall with a central fibrous core, and the flesh (aril) surrounds each seed. The flesh is banana-flavored and can be sweet or acidic, depending on ripeness.
